Top tier life-science salaries surge, open positions now average over $176,000

Annual salaries for life science industry related positions surged to reach a new high of $176,000 in August. The study was performed by measuring annual salaries for advertised top tier life science positions. Top tier life-science positions were defined as those requiring related life science degrees as well as at least 5 years experience. Dozens of top tier positions were analyzed and included titles such as Biostatistician, Brand Manager, Drug Safety Scientist, Medical Science Liaison, Global Product Leader, Senior Scientist in many areas of specialization and Regulatory Affairs Manager. 25% to 50% higher salaries are being offered for Department Directors and top Management Executives.
The salary measurement study was performed by Life Science Recruiters, an executive recruiting firm that specializes in placing professionals in life science industries such as pharmaceutical, bioanalytical and medical device.
“Last quarter, the life science industry increased its efforts to find talented staff”, said Teresa Clayton, President of Life Science Recruiters. “Client requests for these specialized talents nearly doubled over the last year and we measured another significant surge just last quarter.”
Advertised salaries offered by numerous organizations throughout the continental United States were included in the study, although no significant differences were found in requirements and responsibilities, relative to earlier studies.
